Home Visits

One of the primary things we do during January is visit the homes of our newest children.  These families have been interviewed and vetted by our incredible staff but this is a time for Laurie and Annabel to get to know the families and delve into more of their individual stories. We take pictures and talk about the roles of the sponsors, the staff and the guardians.

The stories are often hard to hear.  Our children have all experienced trauma or they wouldn’t be in our program.  But the goal is to provide hope and hope brings healing.  Knowing there is someone a half a world away who cares enough to come alongside the family empowers these guardians to believe in a future for their children.

Allowing the child to interact with the staff and the visitors from America is key to beginning this relationship.

All of the family members interact with us and many of the neighbors come to see the visitors.  Sometimes the visits occur after the sun is down and the families are grateful for the solar lights that were provided by sponsors at Christmas

We are often entertained by other “family members” during these visits.

But no matter how difficult the stories and despite the livestock interactions, these visits are an amazing time of relationship building and fellowship with our Village2Village Project Family.  In many ways we become the keepers of the family history as we record what we hear and keep the information safe for the families for years to come.  We are so grateful to all of the sponsors and Village Partners who make life change possible for the families in Serere and Kateta.  The smiles of the families say it all!
