The Video That Sparked A Movement

Village2Village Project has served desperately vulnerable children in a remote area of rural Uganda since 2003.  When a film crew visited in 2007, V2VProject found Sam and Esther, two starving children, lying in the dirt. They were unable to walk. They were alone. And we almost drove over them.
While we were still reeling, eight year old Jane appeared, carrying water. This little girl was acting as their parent. These three children needed immediate help, and we couldn’t walk away.

LOVE AND COMMITMENT CHANGES LIVES

Jane shared her touching story years later at age fifteen. For over a decade, generous sponsors and donors from around the world have provided medical care, therapy, food and a safe place for the children to recover, grow and thrive.

  • Jane attended one of the best high schools in Uganda. Now at age 19, she studies in a prelaw program at the advanced secondary level. She had a childhood full of fun and friends, and loves her siblings deeply.
  • Sam and Esther have been cared for with tenderness and consistency since 2007. They have been struggling with a progressive neurological disease. Despite 24 hour 1:1 care, a specialized diet, and attentive medical care, our beloved Sam passed away in the village in January, 2019. We miss his laugh! Esther’s health continues to be very fragile, with frequent hospitalizations.
  • Both of their parents have joined the V2V Project Guardian’s support group. Their father has stopped drinking and their mother has reconciled and visited her children.
